Geely first showed the new Coolray crossover in official images. It turned out that in addition to a greatly revised appearance and interior, the model will also be distinguished by a changed name.

The published images show the slightly changed name of the new “Culray”. In China it sounds like Geely Binyue Cool. Let us remind you that the word “cool” can be translated from English as “cool”. That is, the international name of the new generation subcompact is now Coolray Cool. But isn’t it too much “coolness” for a car name?

How has the new Geely Coolray changed?

We have already analyzed the design of the new generation Geely Coolray several times. The veil of secrecy has long been removed from it by leaked patent images and photographs from the catalog of the Chinese Ministry of Industry. Now Geely has shared images of the new Coolray. They once again made it clear exactly what this subcompact crossover will look like.

The exterior of the Geely Coolray Cool, even in small details, coincides with real photographs from the catalog of the Chinese Ministry of Industry. So, the front part with a giant radiator grille, the protruding lip of the front bumper, the narrow profile of the headlights and much more catches your eye. At the rear, you can note a single element of lanterns and an abundance of cut lines.

The interior of the new Coolray was shown extremely schematically in official images. Nevertheless, it is noticeable that its design almost exactly repeats the Geely Binrui Cool sedan that has already entered the Chinese market. This is clear from the layout of the central tunnel and a single cluster of the central screen and “tidy”.

The power plant of the Geely Coolray Cool will consist of a completely new 1.5-liter 4-cylinder BHE15-EFZ turbo engine with an output of 181 horsepower. The maximum speed of the crossover reaches 200 km/h. Curb weight – 1350 kg. Its dimensions have changed slightly and amounted to 4380 x 1800 x 1609 mm with a wheelbase of 2600 mm. Presumably, its price in China will “start” at 99.8 thousand yuan (940 thousand rubles).

When will the start of sales of the new Geely Coolray be announced?

There is no official information about the release date of Geely Coolray Cool even on the Chinese market. However, Chinese Cars has found a clue that sheds light on a possible release date for the crossover. In one of the spy shots of the new Geely Coolray, we noticed the inscription 杭州2022年亚运会官方合作伙伴 (“Partner of the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou”).

The Asian Games, also known as the Asian Games, are major sporting events comprising 37 sports. In 2022, they were planned to be held in the city of Hangzhou, where Geely’s head office is located. Initially, this event was planned for September 10-25. But due to the spread of coronavirus in China, it was decided to postpone it. However, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) stated that the Games will still take place this year, but the exact date is still silent.
